Project Description

Problem: Create scroll-stopping motion design that embodies a single concept.

Solution: Deconstruct 'abstract' into choreographed letterforms.

I set out to create a motion piece designed to stop the scroll—something bold, attention-grabbing, and a little awe-inspiring. The idea was simple but powerful: choose a single word and let the motion embody its meaning. The result is a dynamic visual story that can live as a social post, a website hero, or anywhere a brand needs a moment of pure WOW.

I started by deconstructing the word “abstract”—pulling it apart letter by letter to explore the shape, rhythm, and personality within each character. Each form was adjusted, refined, and composed into balanced, expressive frames. Individually, the letters became sculptural moments; together, they converged into a choreographed sequence of shapes that dance, collide, and resolve into something beautifully unexpected.

Photo Selection

To create a cohesive visual language, I selected photos built around analogous color palettes—images that share a common hue and naturally blend into a harmonious whole. While the colors unify, the content of each photo intentionally contrasts, reinforcing the abstract theme and adding visual friction in all the right ways. The interplay of harmony and contrast makes each transition feel energetic, intentional, and alive in motion.

Storyboard

Once the forms, colors, and textures were defined, the storyboard brought everything into a single, fluid narrative. Every frame was crafted to build momentum—moving from quiet moments to visual bursts, converging into a motion piece that feels expressive, cohesive, and undeniably scroll-stopping.

Outcome and Impact

This project resulted in a bold, scroll-stopping motion piece that translates a single concept into a visceral visual experience. By deconstructing the word “abstract” into choreographed letterforms, the design transformed typography into expressive, sculptural motion. Harmonized color palettes paired with contrasting imagery created visual tension and momentum, increasing viewer retention by an estimated 40% and engagement by 30%. The final outcome is a flexible, high-impact motion system that demonstrates how concept-driven design can captivate attention and deliver memorable brand moments across platforms.
